PAUL STANLEY CHART ATTACK
Paul Stanley enters the German Top 100 Album
charts next week at # 49! That's about 2.300 units sold. That is a real good position
considering there was no promotional tour, no single, no video and no single interviews to
promote this album. Gene's well promoted "Asshole" solo album missed the Top 100
two years ago...

PAUL STANLEY NEWS
(from Blabbermouth)
KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley
performed a solo concert at Revolution in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Monday (October 23).
Check out pictures from Getty Images.
As previously reported, KISS Paul Stanley's new solo album, "Live to
Win", is poised to sell between 25,000 and 30,000 copies in the United States
during its first week of release to land in the Top 50 of The Billboard 200 chart. The
final first-week numbers will be released on Wednesday, November 1.
"Live to Win" was released on Tuesday (October 24) via New Door
Records/Universal Musical Enterprises. The CD was self-produced by Stanley,
who provides lead vocals, guitar and percussion alongside a studio core of guitarist Corky
James (AVRIL LAVIGNE, THE MATRIX), drummer Victor Indrizzo (BECK,
MACY GRAY) and keyboardist Harry Sommerdahl (CARRIE UNDERWOOD, LINDSAY
LOHAN). Also performing on the album are former KISS bandmate Bruce Kulick
and guitarist John 5.
A 10-minute audio interview with Stanley, conducted recently by "Elliot in
the Morning", has been made available for download at this
location (MP3, 4.7 MB).

KISSOLOGY BONUS DISCS
(from Kissonline)
ABOUT THE KISSology PACKAGING & THE BONUS DISCS:
According to some extremely reliable inside sources, here's the scoop on the KISSology I
packaging.
- There will be a 20 page booklet, full color, in perpetuity. With mostly unreleased
photos... including a handwritten note from Paul (ala KISS MY ASS), in which he mentions
Ace! The best photo, perhaps, is a shot from the infamous session for the original KISS
lunch box... where the band is seen candidly standing, waiting for the photo session to
begin. The booklet also features quotes taken from Gene & Paul's chapter commentary
within the dvd.
- There will be a "fan piece" (like the tatoos in ALIVE II or the pop up LOVE
GUN in Love Gun...) in initial pressings of KISSOLOGY VOL. 1. No one is saying what this
is, other than the fact that it is an item the band hasn't offered as a collectible
previously.
- YES, There will be THREE discs in the intial pressings of KISSology I... no matter which
version you buy. 2 of which will be the "perpetuity" discs... as well as an
additional limited edition 3rd disc. The 3rd disc will vary depending on where you buy
KISSology 1. (details below)
- WHY? With the record retail marketplace becoming more competive as time marches on,
retailers frequently request additional exclusive content (sometimes at specific lengths)
for their stores, in exchange for significant promotional opportunities. This opportunity
is of course seen as a competitive edge. Yet often this opportunity is lamely exploited
with only one or two additonal songs (or downloads) per release (as seen in the weekly
SUNDAY circulars)... here and there.
With this in mind, and given that everyone involved with KISSOLOGY wanted to give every
fan an over the top package at an extremely fair price... the vaults were exploited, and
nothing less than a 7 to 12 song disc will accompany the intial pressings of KISSology Vol
1.... and for this reason alone... KISSology should be very visible on 10/31 and beyond!
In DVD terms, it will be DOUBLE PLATINUM by KISSMASS, if not sooner!! (this means more
volumes, gang!)
The bonus discs in question... and where to get them?
- COBO HALL/DETROIT, MI (1/25/76) AVAILABLE AT BEST BUY. THIS SHOW IS KNOWN AS NIGHT ONE
OF KISS' THREE NIGHT STAND AT COBO HALL IN JANUARY OF '76... (NIGHT TWO IS ON DISC ONE OF
KISSOLOGY 1). This disc features 10 songs (minus encores) including a very rare
performance of "LADIES IN WAITING" from Dressed To Kill.
- MADISON SQUARE GARDEN/NEW YORK, NY (2/18/77) Available at MOST retailers including all
independent stores, Amazon.com, Bull Moose, Circuit City, FYE, Hastings, Newbury Comics,
Rasputins, Target, Virgin, etc. HERE'S KISS' VERY FIRST PERFORMANCE AT MADISON SQUARE
GARDEN!!! This disc features 7 songs including TAKE ME, LET ME GO ROCK N ROLL, and NOTHIN'
TO LOSE.
- CAPITAL CENTRE/LARGO, MD (12/20/77) Available at WAL MART. This disc features 12 songs
including Ladies Room as well as Rock and Roll All Nite.
Specific numbers for the initial pressings of these three discs were not given, but the
total between the three is not expected to surpass 150,000 to 200,000 units. After these
initial pressings, KISSOLOGY VOL 1 will revert back to a two disc version.
KISSOLOGY VOLUME II currently is expected to feature material from 1978 thru 1992. No word
on bonus discs, if any, at this time!
OCTOBER 31ST... THE RETURN OF KISS!!! WELCOME (BACK) TO THE SHOW!

PAUL STANLEY SHOW REVIEW
(from sleazeroxx.com)
Show Date: October 24, 2006
Location: Orlando, Florida, U.S.A.
Venue: Hard Rock
Reviewer: Brutus
I must confess to not being the biggest Kiss fan there is, although I do own at least a
third if not more of their sizeable record catalog. So when I saw that Paul Stanley was
touring in support of his first solo album since 1978, I was interested enough to read the
story but that was it. No plans were made, no tickets were purchased, I think I actually
had lunch shortly thereafter. Chinese, to be specific.
A friend of mine called either later that day or later in the week, saying Paul was going
solo on tour. He is a big Kiss mark from way back so I new this was up his alley. As it
turns out, a stop on his Live To Win tour was going to pass through the Hard Rock in
Orlando, Florida on the same day the CD of the same title was going to be released. Even
more coincidentally, that was the same night as a party for his stepson's birthday.
Knowing how much he loves Kiss and the members who bring the band to life, his wife
suggested he ask me if I wanted to tag along with him since she'd be at her son's party
(they have a great marriage). I figured what the hell? He was offering me a ticket in
exchange only for driving to the show, about 50 miles or so each way. Let's see, gas at
$2.15 a gallon, Jeep gets approximately 18 mpg, carry the four and divide by a left turn,
and that comes to like something shy of $13. Looks like I owe him some more driving!
Since the show was Tuesday, October 24th, we would both be leaving from work and heading
straight over to the Hard Rock. I usually work until at least 6 p.m., doors opened at
7:30, show started at 8 p.m., so we figured we'd get there when we could and if we missed
the opening acts (if there were any), who cared? It was Paul we were going to see anyway.
As it turns out, after driving over, parking, walking through the pre-park area of
Universal Studios, we still managed to get to the Hard Rock, go through what little
security there was, head up to the balcony, find our seats and chill, looking at the
scenery before the first act started.
A local band from Orlando was given the first 20 minutes to do their thing. Megaphone, a
four-piece group, was pretty good. They mixed a rock sound similar to Green Day/The
Offspring with a hint of the '80s lighter pop metal like Bon Jovi. All-in-all, not bad, I
could see these guys going somewhere with a decent push.
After they cleared their gear, the second band set up and took the stage. Rockets To Ruin,
hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, went up next and played for a solid 30 minutes or so. These
guys had the look and sound of the best 80s sleaze rock like L.A. Guns and Faster
Pussycat, yet still were original enough to keep things from sounding rehashed. Just wish
they had a second guitar to help fill out the sound some.
When they were done it took approximately 30 minutes or so to clear their gear and set the
stage for Paul Stanley, who is being backed by the House Band from Rockstar INXS and
Rockstar Supernova fame. Real close to 10 p.m. the lights dim, the music fades, the packed
crowd of at least 1,500 start to amp up and out comes the man everyone's been waiting for
- Paul Stanley. I was still pretty skeptical at this point, expecting a night of fancy
dancing and love songs from whom I've long thought of as the weakest link in Kiss. Was I
in for a pleasant surprise!
The set list was a tight, 19-song offering from Kiss' first album on up through the late
80s and both of Paul's solo albums, the '78 release and Live To Win. I don't think
anything was played from a release newer than Hot In The Shade. There were the expected
ballads and softer songs like "I Still Love You" and "Hide Your
Heart". There was a huge surprise, at least to me, when he preceded "A Million
To One" by stating that Kiss had never played this song live, somehow overlooking
this gem. Paul also took the opportunity to rock with "Lick It Up", "Love
Gun" and "Detroit Rock City". Offerings from the Live To Win CD were the
title track, "Bulletproof", "Everytime I See You Around" and
"Lift". If I had a chance to shake up the set list some, I would have dropped a
song from both solo albums in favor of other songs from the Kiss Vault that hardly, if
ever, see the light of day.
I was enthralled the whole night long. Going into this show I almost saw it as a personal
challenge between me and Paul. I was going to be skeptical and he was going to have to
prove me wrong each song he played. He more than put me in my place. The venue was
everything it has ever been - great lighting, great sound, and, for my first time in the
balcony, great seats too. Paul Stanley and the House Band were everything and more than I
hoped I could even settle for. Seeing as how Paul has a day job already, if the House Band
ever lands a lead singer then watch out! They will definitely be going places.
I could go on for many more words just lauding Paul Stanley's performance, but I'll wrap
it up with this last thought. I'm old enough to have been around when Kiss first hit the
scene, and it wasn't much later around the Rock And Roll Over or Hotter Than Hell records
that I started to listen to them as a kid. I very distinctly remember those two releases
specifically because they were on 8-track, and I recall how odd it was to have to wait
during the middle of a song for it to move from one track to the next. The point being,
the voice I heard sucking me into his performance that night was the same as I recalled it
from the early 70s and every other album thereafter. For a man into his 50s, living rock
and roll for well over 30 years, his voice was as strong as ever and not once did I catch
any idea that he was half-assing a song, a verse, or even a single note.
I still don't have a lot of respect for the entity known as Kiss, and perhaps that's Gene
Simmon's fault for seemingly taking it past the music that used to matter to just being a
way to make money. But I left the Hard Rock that Tuesday night with a huge amount of
respect for Paul Stanley as a performer. The benchmark test that matters most to me is
that I'd go back and experience it all over again in a heartbeat.

BILL AUCOIN TO MANAGE LORDI?
Original Kiss manager Bill Aucoin was impressed by Lordis performance at this years
song contest. Since Lordi are looking for a new manager, Bill Aucoin flew to Finland on
his own expense to see the rehearsals and the first couple of concerts of the new Tour to
show his interest in managing the band.
So will he be managing Lordi now? "We don't know yet, we hope so." says
Mr. Lordi, who sat down with us to talk about the old days when Mr.Lordi used to organise
the local Kiss Expos in Helsinki, his band Lordi and of course Kiss. "Bill came over
to see us, the chemistry betwen all of us was great" he said. While Lordi have great
success in Europe, their records are not yet released in the USA. "The records are
only available by import there, its a record company thing" he continues, and he
added, that they would like to get Bill Aucoin as their manager, if he can make them a
good offer.
While Bill Aucoin was in Finland, he showed Lordi also the live-performance of
"Deuce" from 1973 on his laptop, which is going to be on the
"Kissology" DVD set. So how is it? "Well, it's a B/W recording with one
camera from 1973" he said, "Bill Aucoin wanted to release it as a full concert,
but Kiss decided to release the footage just piece by piece".

KISSOLOGY DVD-REVIEW
(from DVDreview.com)
The phenomenon that is "KISS" keeps going and going and going. What
started out originally as a unique and radically flashy rock band has turned into a huge
corporation over the past 30 years with Gene Simmons seemingly dead-set to milk it for
every penny that it is worth. The merchandising machinery of "KISS" is
unparalleled in the music industry and puts to shame even Hollywood on countless
occasions. The band hasn't recorded an album in years and yet sales on all things
"KISS" are soaring while the band continues to tour arenas across the country in
what started as their "Farewell" tour some five years ago.
Now, Gene Simmons decided to chronicle some of the career milestones of the band in
"KISSology," a 3-volume DVD release that contains some of the historic
appearances and concerts of the band throughout the years. Volume 1, which we have here
for review, covers the years 1974 to 1977. This is, by many fans' standards, the Golden
Era of "KISS," covering the formation of the band all the way to their platinum
album "Love Gun." During this period, featuring Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace
Frehley and Peter Criss, the band arguably crafted some of their best songs, most of which
have sustained the years and are still hymns to this day. Whether it's "Rock'n Roll
All Nite," "God Of Thunder," "Detroit Rock City,"
"Beth," "Black Diamond," "Deuce" or "Love Gun,"
this period produced them all. As a result, most fans will consider Volume 1 of the
"KISSology" the most interesting and intriguing of all volumes.
After inserting the disc in the player I was a bit surprised at its overall presentation
as within a second the disc launched into concert footage right away, without any menu,
without any disclaimers or anything. On the one hand this is nice, but at the same time
you are sort of thrown into the middle of the concert at the Long Beach Auditorium without
warning, introduction or mood-setter. It took me a few seconds to realize that I'm
watching the actual disc and not some promo or extended main menu lead-in. From there on
the disc just keeps piling it on and on. There is concert footage after concert footage,
interspersed with clips from TV appearances and even the occasional
"documentary" chronicling one of the band's appearances, like the infamous
Cadillac, Michigan High School events.
The picture and sound quality on this release varies significantly, of course. Being
documentary in nature, we are presented here with amateur footage as well as 16mm film and
70s TV footage in many instances. All of them simply do not measure up to today's
standards, creating an image that is grainy, noisy, bleeding colors, faded, muted or
whatnot. It is all across the map, really. However, that is part of the appeal of this
release. It gives us a look at the band in its early days as well as some untainted
footage from their shows before production technologies became overly slick. The footage
feel authentic and rare, making it a true gem for the band's fans of old. Starting with
the 1976 concert at Detroit's Cobo Hall - which is one of the four concerts presented on
this release in their entirety - you can begin to tell that concert video and audio begin
to dramatically improve.
On the second disc you will find the entire Budokan concert from 1977 as well as "The
Summit" concert during 1977's "Love Gun Tour."
The same thing is essentially true for the audio quality. While early footage contains
horrible distorted audio for the most part if gets gradually better. The three full
concerts on the release have actually been remixed to 5.1 channel Dolby Digital, trying to
squeeze the most out of the tracks. What I found particularly interesting was during the
band's early segments, which were shot by amateurs, is that you get to hear a very
unbalanced mix. On one clip you may hear only Gene's bass lines, while in another clip you
may be able to hear only Ace's guitar work while everything esle is drowned out. The
musician in me was extremely excited about being able to get a glimpse at the musicianship
that is on display here aside from the theatrics.
As an extra, the DVD also contains a commentary track with the band members. It is mostly
Gene Simmons who is doing the talking together with Paul Stanley. While very interesting
and informative, the comments are spotty however. Sometimes there would be a short
introduction, like to the Budokan concert, where Paul talks about the band's arrival in
Tokyo and Gene's recollection of the contract situation, but after a few minutes the
commentary falls silent. This happens on a large number of occasions, so again, do not
expect a whole lot of divulging into backstage information etc. This is mostly about the
concerts and appearances of the band.
"KISSology: Volume 1" is true nostalgic fun for any "KISS" fan. I do
have to admit however that I was hoping there'd be more backstage footage included in this
release but there is virtually none. What little there is, is part of some promo clip or
documentary. If you were hoping to get a low down on the band as in the people and
the production they put on the road or clips of them working on their albums - in those
early days, you will be disappointed. This is all about promo and concert materials. This
is not necessarily a bad thing, but I thought I'd point it out.
For me it was great to revisit those early days of the band the era when I became a
"KISS" fan myself. It is a nice throwback to the 70s and the mystique that
"KISS" was at the time. For fans of the band, this release is definitely a
must-own!

SURPREME COURT REJECTS VINCENT
(from Kissonline)
On October 2, 2006, the United States Supreme Court flatly rejected Vincent Cusano
p/k/a Vinnie Vincents effort to revive his baseless claims against KISS. The
Courts denial of Cusanos petition closes the door on Cusanos nine year
campaign to harass KISS.
The Vincent case demonstrates that KISS will not reward people who misuse the legal system
in an attempt to pry money from KISS that is not deserved. Cusano performed with KISS for
a short stint in 1982-1984. In 1997 Cusano filed a lawsuit against KISS containing many
claims, including underpayment of royalties.
The California Court disagreed and dismissed or otherwise found in favor of KISS on
every single claim by Vincent. The California Court of Appeals agreed with KISS, finding
that Vincents appeal was frivolous. The California Courts soundly
rejected any claim by Cusano that KISS or its record company had not paid Cusano all
royalties owed to him. As you can see from the excerpt from the Associated Press set out
below, the United States Supreme Court has refused to alter the California Courts
decision in favor of KISS.
KISS thanks all of its fans for their continued support.
