"CASABLANCA SINGLES 1974 - 1982" BOX SET REVIEW
The first review of the "Casablanca Singles" Box set comes from Wayne Parry (Associated Press) and can be found here:

No act has been better at getting you to buy songs you already own in numerous formats than Kiss. With at least 18 greatest hits, compilation or box set albums on the market, here comes yet another one. Something in the neighbourhood of $145 will get you this latest box set, a re-release of 29 U.S. Kiss singles, each on 45 rpm vinyl records (remember those?)

Box sets have two main selling points: previously unavailable music, and way-cool packaging. Because these singles have all been out there for decades, this box set's appeal lies in its presentation. Weighing in at a hefty eight pounds, the set starts with the band's very first single, "Nothin' To Lose," with the flip side "Love Theme From Kiss" from way back in 1974. All but three of the singles come with decorative foreign sleeves with elaborate artwork, and, in the case of the Japanese sleeves, hilarious mistranslations of lyrics. A line from "C'mon And Love Me" morphs from, "The lights are out" to "Your lives are out." Even the misprints are faithfully preserved: Peter Criss' solo single "You Matter To Me" appears as "You Still Matter To Me" on the label.

Far and away the coolest are the singles from each of the band's solo albums, pressed in colored vinyl: red for Gene Simmons, purple for Paul Stanley, green for Criss and blue for Ace Frehley. Each of these four also comes with a cut-out Halloween-type mask of each member's face in Kiss makeup, a throwback to the days when Kiss albums came loaded with swag.

Die-hard Kiss fans will probably want to pick this up — provided they still have turntables.

MONSTER MAKEOVER

For a long time, beginning in 1999, Paul Stanley wasn’t sure Kiss would make another studio album. Worse, he wasn’t sure he wanted to. Ironically, it was the making of the previous year’s Psycho Circus—the much-ballyhooed record that featured original members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley reunited with Kiss founders Stanley and Gene Simmons—that put Stanley in that frame of mind. As he tells it, Criss and Frehley were recalcitrant participants, at best.

“What we learned is that you can’t make a great Kiss album without Kiss,” he says. “When there are two people in the studio working, and two who are refusing to come in, or who have their attorneys on the phone all the time, that’s not a good situation. Psycho Circus was interesting in the sense that it made me never want to go back into the studio, and at the same time, I felt I’ll be damned if that was going to be the last album we made. The band, during the reunion period, went south pretty quickly. It was something we managed to keep alive in much the same way a paramedic might keep a stroke victim from dying.”

KISS LIVE IN SAO PAULO

Last night was awesome! It was the same set list as Chile, Paraguay and Porto Alegre.
I was at the M&G along with other 60 -70 fans, and they were great! They played A Million To One and Tears Are Falling (Paul said it was a special song for us, never played in M&Gs acoustics).
The full Kiss concert in Sao Paulo (pro shot) can be seen here on YouTube.

In Porto Alegre, due to customs problems in Paraguay the show delayed in almost 2 hours because of missing equipments. The Meet & Greet was made with different instruments and structure, even the photo was taken with a white backdrop, the fire backdrop was in customs yet. Unbelievable that in 2012 we still can see mistakes like in 1983.

KISS and very special guests Motley Crue will be performing at the 2013 Clipsal 500, which is Australia’s largest domestic motorsport event. Called “The Race That Rocks”, the annual concert closes the event and next year’s will be the biggest ever held.

The Clipsal 500 runs from February 28 with KISS and Motley Crue performing the closer on Sunday evening March 3.

Kiss will play at the Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf (Burgenland) in Austria. The festival takes place from June 14 - 16, 2013.

REPORT FROM THE KISS KRUISE DAY ONE

KISS Kruise II kicked off to an amazing start yesterday! As the day began, the Port of Miami was invaded by thousands of fans in KISS shirts and costumes. Our ship, the Norwegian Pearl, remained in port for an extra hour to allow fans affected by Hurricane Sandy more time to board.

KISS played a sailaway concert as the Pearl left the Port of Miami. More than ... 2200 members of the KISS Navy sang along as the band played classics, lesser-heard tracks and many instant requests from fans. Some highlights: "Comin' Home," "A Million to One," "All Hell's Breakin' Loose," "Nothin' to Lose," and "Only You." Paul also announced during the show that there will be a KISS Kruise III!
