KISS NEWS FROM GENE
Gene has posted the following on his website
www.genesimmons.com:
Finishing up filming Season IV of GENE SIMMONS FAMILY
JEWELS (20 new episodes). It will debut in June. However, as some of you have noticed
(in other countries), our show is played year 'round. We are seen around the world in many
languages. Some are dubbed, some are sub-titled. From New Zealand, to South Africa. From
Argentina to Russia and Finland. 84 countries!!!
KISS' First New Studio Album -- check out KISSONLINE.COM for all the latest news.
KISS' South American Stadium Tour begins April 3rd in Santiago, Chile. Check out KISSONLINE.COM for ticket info.
Just finalized a few new deals -- one for a new KISS book...and moving our COMIC BOOK lines to a new company -- one of the biggest...
We have a Financial Product we're working on that's shaping up to be (perhaps) the biggest venture we've ever undertaken. Can't say more at this time.
KISSTERIA, our TV Special for A&E will air sometime in the fall.
We're also developing a NEW TV SHOW (soon to be announced) for Network.
And, we are Producing a FILM that's about to start shooting in the near future.
Looks like there's an ANIMATION DEAL that's not too far from the finish line. If and when it's done, it will enable us to fund and own our own animated cartoon show.
Working on a New GUITAR deal -- that will bring you a full, musical line - GENE SIMMONS AXE BASSES and guitars and GENE SIMMONS PUNISHERS and guitars...amps, mics, straps...the works.
My long in the works GENE SIMMONS BOX SET ("Alter
Ego") will probably see the light of day in the fall and (looks like) will contain
150 songs that have never been released.

ALBUM NEWS
(from deucenews/Kiss Forum)
Recently Gene Simmons talked with Comércio do Jahu about the forthcoming KISS
South American Tour and other matters, this is what he said about the new album:
"Yes, we will launch an album with 12 or 15 unpublished songs. We already recorded
vocals and guitars for four of them. We will finish up the album in July and launch it in
September. I can say the sound will be like a sort of a new "Rock-n'-roll over",
mid-seventies sound , fast and heavy. There will be no rap, no country music. It is
difficult to define music, but if you keep in mind that definition, you will understand
very well what we are talking about. It's the classic KISS sound."

DID YOU KNOW...
... that in 1978 the record company sent out a promotional box
(also called "bible", because it just looks like one) to radio-stations? In
included a tape with pre-recorded answers to certain questions. The questions for those
answers were printed in a booklet, which came with the tape in the box. So the radio
stations could do their own "interview" without even ever talking to them.
... a limited edition of an one issue of the Greek "Rock
Hard" magazine last year came with a Kiss Tribute double CD called "Greektures
of the night" with Greek bands covering Kiss songs?

KISS UPDATE
Kissonline posted this meesage from Gene Simmons on their
website:
Date: March 27
Today, went through the entire set we intend on playing in the forthcoming SOUTH AMERICAN
swing of our KISS Alive 35 World Tour. If you've seen some of the media coming out of S.
America, you'll notice we're mostly playing soccer stadiums...and we're told the tix are
almost all gone.
Today was a special day -- we all lined up to get Yellow Fever shots. Great. No one was
anxious to get stung by a needle, but if that's what it takes for us to get together with
50,000 close friends we'll role up our sleeves.
We've also been recording our first New Studio Album in 11 years!!!. Produced by Paul
Stanley. And, having Paul simply decide things, works better. Democracy is highly
overrated. Paul is kickin' ass. The material sounds great and Tommy and Eric are in great
form.
We have 4 tunes recorded. If you're a fan of our stuff from about 1977, you'll feel right
at home. All of us have taken up the songwriting call to arms in the same spirit we once
did -- without a care in the world and without outside writers. Nothing to prove to
anyone. Just doing what comes naturally. Ignoring fashions, trends and with a personal vow
from all of us: no rapping. There are plenty of people out there doing this and they don't
need four palefaced guys pretending they're from the hood. Besides, I'm not sure how to
correctly pronounce "wassup."
Tommy is finishing his solo tune. Sounds great, I can tell you. And Eric is going to sing
on the album.
Most importantly, we are having the time of our lives, and can't wait to see our friends
South of the Border.
We hop on our jet April 1st, on the way to gig #1-Santiago.
See you all there...Or maybe later!

KISS LIFTS FAN'S SPIRITS
(from Cincinnati Enquirer)
NEWPORT - The phone rang Wednesday afternoon in
Christopher "Critter" Smith's room at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical
Center.
His mom had just stepped out for a moment, so he answered it.
"Critter, it's Paul Stanley," the caller said. Stanley is the lead singer for
KISS, Critter's favorite rock band.
"At first, I thought it was just my dad messing with me," Critter said.
It really was Stanley.
He was calling from South America where KISS will kick off a tour next month. The band had
been alerted about Critter by a fan after an article was published March 2 in The
Enquirer. The article talked about the 11-year-old's battle with leukemia, and mentioned
his love for KISS. [read

SIMMONS AND STRONACH:
HOPE TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC TOGETHER
(from theglobeandmail.com)
GUY DIXON
From Wednesday's Globe and Mail
The blood-spewing, kabuki demon is happy to talk 360 marketing and the search
for teen acts to tailor into the next big thing even a Jonas Brothers-like boy
band, if that's what it takes.
I'd like to sign three acts the first year, said Gene Simmons by phone from
Beverly Hills, Calif., about his new Canadian record label. He's in Toronto tomorrow to
make a keynote speech at Canadian Music Week, taking a break from recording KISS's first
studio album in 10 years. Although, he quickly noted, the band is in no hurry to finish
the album any time soon, not when Simmons has so many other pots on the stove, including
his newly resurrected record label, Simmons Records. [read the rest]

The beauty in buying an LP used to be you got a package, a piece of art
something that someone worked hard on to make it creative, dynamic and interesting

all you can see is someones name. In that way I miss it. Stanley said that if

Harlley Rodrigues (Kiss Killers Brazil)
Ricky: Hi Tommy, how are you?
Tommy: Im fine, thanks!
Ricky: The Kiss is coming to Brazil, will be a great presentation, believe it.
What is your expectation?
Tommy: KISS in Brazil is always huge and this time will be no different. After

and ready to put on the ultimate show for the fans of Brazil. It's gonna be a party!

Tommy: We're in the recording studio right now working. Your gonna love it!
Ricky: Do you will sing a song in the album?
Tommy: No plans to.
Ricky: With the release of the album, do you believe that the band would return
to Brazil?
Tommy: I think that's a great idea.
Ricky: I dont know if someone already asked you this, but when and how do
you received the invitation to replace Ace Frehley?
Tommy: As you might know, I've been in the KISS camp for many years. When the
time was right, it happened naturally.
Ricky: Did you want to create your own makeup?
Tommy: No

DID YOU KNOW...
... that the concert posters in Spain for the "Lick it up" tour featured
a picture of Gene in make-up? It is weird to picture just one band member on a
concert-poster and it makes it even more strange that the picture is in make-up, although
Kiss took the make-up off.

At their Download festival press conference last summer, Kiss well, bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, to be precise poured cold water (cold gin, more like) on the prospect of Kiss ever recording a brand new album.
The record industry is dead, Simmons snarled. Its six feet underground and unfortunately the fans have done this.
He continued: Theyve decided to download and file-share. There is no record industry around so were going to wait until everybody settles down and becomes civilised. As soon as the record industry pops its head up well record new material.
Rhythm guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley defended Kisss policy of only playing their old hits live.
With any classic band that hits the road, the last thing you want to hear is their new songs, he said. Trends come, fashion comes. But we dont go away. Were like herpes.
So, whats changed in a few short months? How come Kiss
have performed an amazing about-face (not easy in those sky-high platform boots) and
decided to record an all-new album after all? [read the rest]

and is finally coming out this year. In response to a letter in the letter-section of his
website, Gene Simmons mentions:
... "I've always written 'outside' stuff, but KISS is KISS. And that means the
outside stuff winds up on solo albums, or I keep it in the drawer. This year, I plan on
releasing 'ALTER EGO", a box set of unreleased songs...about 150 of em. You'll hear
more 'outside' stuff. "

DID YOU KNOW...
... that Music Life relesed official Music Life Kiss Special magazines when Kiss
toured in Japan in 1977 and 1978? Both are absolutely amazing magazines and a must-have
for any collector and fan! They are each about 160 pages full of great photos, articles
and posters. One of the mags even includes a photo of Ace in Nazi uniform!
And they are not even that expensive, they got reprinted in the late '80s. The reprints
are absolutely identical to the original prints.
