KISS PAINTINGS
FROM JEFFREY SCOTT HOLLAND AT THE KISS COFFEEHOUSE
"Fuel To Build A
Fire" :
KISS paintings by Jeffrey Scott Holland
KISS Coffeehouse
Broadway at the Beach
1320 Celebrity Circle
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
Opening reception:
April 7, 2007
Jeffrey Scott Holland, neo-expressionist artist currently living in Louisville, Kentucky,
turns his ultra-primitive "Southern Gothic" eyeball to The Demon, The Cat Man,
Starchild and Space Ace in this once-in-a-lifetime exhibit of KISS-themed painting and
prints, held in the band's very own coffee house in Myrtle Beach's beautiful and
upscale "Broadway At The Beach" entertainment complex.
Holland, a KISS fan since childhood, has often woven oblique references to the band into
his paintings, which have hung in galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, London
and Paris in the last twenty years. His portraits of the band members (and the archetypal
characters they represent) are done in a tongue-in-cheek manner that often pokes fun at
his idols, but with love.

(from Kiss Asylum/Mike Hansen)
On Saturday Night, March 17, 2007 in Harrison, NY at a bar called
Uncle Henry's, I was there to see a band called Revolver. Turns out they are old friends
of Ace's and near the end of the second set he got up and jammed on a few tunes.
I believe they did about 4 tunes together. I only remember two of them, Hendrix's Foxy
Lady and Clapton's Crossroads.
Ace was awesome and here is a pic from the night.

KISS MY BLACK EYES
(from www.tmz.com)
TMZ has exclusively obtained the first brutal image of KISS Army Commander, Gene
Simmons, minutes after doctors surgically altered his face. Hotter than hell! As you may
remember from the season finale of Gene's hit A&E reality series, "Family
Jewels," both the aging rocker and his longtime girlfriend, Shannon
Tweed, underwent his n' hers facelifts. Is that you?!
Shannon originally backed out of the operation when she thought that might have been
pregnant. Once she discovered that it was only a false alarm, Gene's better half went
ahead with the surgery.
The 57-year-old rocker will broadcast his rough road to recovery on the season two
premiere, which airs March 25.

KISS AND TELL: KISS COMICS PANEL
(from Wizarduniverse.com)
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley get on stage for fan
Q&A at Wizard World LA
By Brian Warmoth
Members of the audience at KISS COMICS
GROUPs Wizard World L.A. panel wore the only makeup in the room Saturday. Gene
Simmons and Paul Stanley showed up in street clothes to talk about their new comic book
series KISS 4K: Legends Never Die, but a contingent of loyal KISS followers wore
the groups trademark black and white face paint and brought plenty of questions for
the pair.
Wizard Senior Staff Writer Mike Cotton moderated the panel, which also included
Platinum Studios Scott Rosenberg and KISS 4K writer Ricky Sprague. The
hour-long event kickstarted with a video trailer of the comic, which was certified over
the weekend by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest comic book of all time.
Why cant KISS conquer the world, and why cant we have the biggest comic
book in history? Rosenberg posed, introducing the book. The sheets from the
book had to be hand-taken off of the press and hand-folded and hand-stitched, he
explained. It was an amazing amount of work.
Stanley introduced Sprague and explained his qualifications for immortalizing KISS comic
form. Hes a KISS freak, Stanley said of Spragues superfan status.
It took somebody like him to breathe life and depth into the characters.
Its a big deal to me because Im a really big KISS fan, Sprague
followed. I wanted to make each issue the equivalent of listening to a KISS
record.
Stanley applauded the writers conviction and vouched for his understanding of what
KISS is all about. Weve always try to transcend the boundaries of what a rock
band should be, he said.
Sprague described he treatment for the comic books story in detail and elaborated on
the mythology already in place that he was able to mine for story material. The
members of the rock group KISS learn that they are attached to these warrior
spirits, he outlined, stating that he hopes to bring in elements from the
bands history in addition to new characters and situations.
Simmons added his own thoughts on watching himself become a comic book character.
Its one of the great things about America, he posed. Praising comic
books as an American art form, he included a biographical note about their importance in
his life. I actually paid for my college education by buying and selling comic
books, Simmons said, explaining how he would buy bundles of old comics and sift
through them for valuable Golden Age issues that he would sell for upwards of $1000
apiece.
Though the project is only in development, Simmons said the book is currently being
adapted for a feature-length film with artwork and scripts being done for a CGI movie.
With KISS 4K as its flagship, KISS Comics Group also plans to launch a KISS
Girls series, which Simmons said will revolve around a group of teenage girls, as well
as a webcomic that will release a page a day of an ongoing story by Sprague and artist
Adam Black and will adjust its story and direction according to fan response.

TOMMY & GENE WITH THE TROOPS AT CAMP
PENDLETON
(from www.tommythayer.com)
Gene Simmons and I visited the Marines of Camp Pendleton this last Friday March 9th
to perform at a rally for the troops in honor of all US Armed Forces. We played a medley
of the Armed Forces anthems to members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines to a
packed house at the base theater. I've never felt so welcome. The troops kept telling us
"Thank you for being here," and I had to keep telling them, "No, it's our
honor to be here; thank you for everything that you are doing for us and our
country!" The entire event was filmed for Gene Simmons Family Jewels which will air
on Memorial Day weekend in May on A&E.

GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS
(from usatoday.com/pic:Kissonline)
Simmons and Tweed put on a good face for 'Family Jewels' Gene Simmons and longtime
companion Shannon Tweed were hoping to make the second season of A&E's half-hour
reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels, premiering March 25 (9 p.m. ET/PT), less
intrusive for themselves and their two teenagers.
So why did the Kiss frontman and former Playboy Playmate of the Year decide to go for dual
face lifts on two episodes airing April 1? "Honest to God, it just sort of
happened," says Simmons, 57, who had a face lift and liposuction, to be featured on
two April 1 episodes. What you'll see, according to Simmons, is "like a biology class
more fascinating than gory." Tweed, who turns 50 March 10, had her face lift
done by the same Beverly Hills surgeon. "Plastic surgery was Gene's idea. But I
wasn't going to let him look younger than me," she says.
Family Jewels averaged 1.3 million viewers last season, A&E's highest-rated original
series since 2004's Dog the Bounty Hunter. That led to this new 20-episode season.
"They are an incredibly functional, loving family," says Robert Sharenow,
A&E's chief of non-fiction programming. "It's surprising and unexpected."
Gary Strauss
