SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE IN GERMANY
(from Christian Hof)
Before their concert in Luxemburg KISS made a short "secret" stop at the
US Air Base in Spangdahlem.
Luckily I was able to attend. Here a few photos.
They were an hour late, it started at 3 pm. Kiss came without their make-up and did not
have much time. You were only allowed to get one item signed. About 400 people were
present, mainly US soldiers, but a few Germans as well.

KISS, RAMONES MEMBERS GUEST
WITH PEARL JAM IN NYC
(from Billboard)
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Pearl Jam gave a nod to its classic rock influences last night (June 25) in New York,
drafting Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley and Ramones bassist C.J. Ramone for guest appearances
during the second of a two-night stand at Madison Square Garden.
Frehley turned up to play lead guitar on Kiss' "Black Diamond," which was
mostly sung by drummer Matt Cameron, with guitarist Mike McCready, an admitted Frehley
obsessive, handling the first verse.
As he'd done the night before, Ramone thundered through his former band's "I Believe
in Miracles" with Pearl Jam. Frontman Eddie Vedder also saluted his guitar tech,
Ricky Ramone, who had long worked for the late Johnny Ramone before joining Pearl Jam.
Frehley and Ramone weren't the only guests during the show. A local vocal trio, secured
after a couple of phone calls from Pearl Jam personnel, was enlisted to sing on "All
Night," "Who You Are" and "W.M.A.," all of which were either new
to Pearl Jam's live set on this short tour or had been absent from the rotation for a
decade or more.
During the MSG run, the crowd often reached deafening volume, taking over for Vedder on
tracks like "Better Man," "Present Tense" and "Release,"
which opened last night's show.

KISS IN MILANO
(from Fabio)
Great, great show in Milan yesterday night.
KISS were in really high spirit and since the M&G (18 people) they cared a lot to the
fans, chatting and posing for personal photos and signing almost everithing...
I got my personal photobook (from Verona) signed and they were astonished about the
quality and the layout of it!!!
The set list was the same of recents dates but they sounded way better then in Verona,
Gene spitted fire and Paul made his stunt during Love Gun.
The venue was realy hot in many ways (38° and great volumes and bombs)
It was not packed and I assume we were not more the 8.000

THE DYNASTY PROMO SHOOT
(from Dogmatic)
Promotional activity was rampant during the 1979 era of KISS. Some of the shots below
ended up in the Dynasty Tourbook of 1979. The band filmed the promo video for Sure
Know Something on the same day most of these photos were taken. Although musically
the band had come back quite a different beast after the release of the solo albums a year
before, it was still an exciting time and proved to be KISS most popular eras
outside of the United States.

The new issue of the German
"Metal Hammer" magazine includes a review from the Oberhausen show. A piece of
paper with the set-list from Oberhausen is also pictured, which surprisingly also features
"Calling Dr. Love", which was not performed. It seems like it was left out in
the last minute. With this song it would have been 7 encores. The day before the show they
even mentioned 8 encores. In fact only 3 shows later 3 more songs got cut from the set
list. However, they are still playing over 2 hours.

KISS CLOSE OPENING
NIGHT OF DOWNLOAD WITH EPIC STAGE SHOW
(from NME)
Paul Stanley literally flies through Donington crowd
Kiss concluded the first night (June 13) of the 2008 Download Festival with an eye-popping
stage show.
With pyrotechnics, fireworks and Paul Stanley leaving the stage via a zip wire mid-song
the finale of the band's set proved phenomenal.
Taking to the stage at 8.45pm (BST), the group appeared from behind a black and silver
Kiss banner while a voice announced over the speakers: Alright Download you want the
best, you got the best, the hottest band in the world Kiss.
Lowered down on platforms to stage level and surrounded by pyrotechnics the four-piece
dressed in full costume and make-up launched into the opening track 'Deuce'.
Before launching into Strutter, Paul Stanley told the audience: Man it
seems like tradition every ten years we come to Donnington. We couldnt have made it
this far without you we salute you Kiss army!
Playing their classic Alive album in its entirety, with synchronised dancing,
fireworks and frontman Gene Simmons sticking out his tongue in signature style, the band
did not disappoint their faithful.
In the early part of the show, they elongated She with a bluesy solo which saw
Tommy Thayer playing his guitar held over his head.
Thayer did not stop there though, and leaving his guitar to feeback in front of an amp
while a roadie handed him another one to continue the song.
That guitar's neck then proceeded to let off fireworks before the rest of the band
returned to the stage.
Throughout the set the Paul Stanley kept asking the crowd to scream louder and
participate.
At one point he said: I want you to help us, I want you to sing with us.
When the crowd were not loud enough for Stanley, he goaded them by saying: We played
in Stockholm to half as many people and they were twice as loud! The crowd then
responded with an even louder cheer.
The band then continued with the set which saw Gene Simmons stalking the stage.
Then, during Cold Gin, Paul Stanley teased the crowd again by playing the
opening riff of Led Zeppelins Stairway To Heaven.
While the crowd squealed in delight while Stanley joked: Nah. Not tonight
but
itd be great if 50,000 people could sing with us.
After a few more songs and plenty more pyrotechnics and synchronised dancing, Stanley
said: Things change all over the years, politicians come, politicians go
but no
matter how many things are going bad take a little time to rock n roll and have a
party.
The band then launched into Rock N Roll All Night.
Which saw Stanley swirling his guitar round pretending to hit the stage to the sound of
fireworks.
He finally relented and on the third firework smashed his guitar much to the crowds
joy.
The showmanship didnt end there though.
For the bands encore, which saw Simmons return to the stage with a bass guitar in
the shape of an axe and for one track get lifted up to the stages roof by strings
while swilling fake blood in his mouth, Stanley travelled through the crowd on a zip wire.
Before launching into the mass of bodies Stanley declared: I wouldnt mind
coming out all the way to see you.
He then asked the crowd to chant his name before launching off the main stage down a zip
wire all the way to a mini stage in the centre of the crowd to perform Love
Gun.
Shaking his hips and holding his guitar over his head Stanley was clearly enjoying
himself.
After returning to the stage the foursome, surrounded by more exploding fireworks and
pyrotechnics, the band concluded with Detroit Rock City before bowing and leaving
the stage.
After the band had exited TV screens on either side of stage said: Kiss thanks
you.
Although the band did not play their iconic hit God Gave Rock N Roll To You it
was blasted over the speakers as roadies cleared up the stage.
Kiss played:
'Deuce'
'Strutter'
'Got To Choose'
'Hotter Than Hell'
'Firehouse'
'Nothing To Loose'
'CMon And Love Me'
'Parasite'
'She'
'Watchin' You'

MICHAEL DORET
(from Rockpages.gr)
We continue our year-long
KISS special article with the 12th interview with a KISS-related figure.
This
week we publish an interview with Michael Doret, the artist of Rock And Roll
Over cover! Heres an excerpt:
Rockpages.gr:
Rock and Roll Over is one of the most classic KISS covers ever! How do you
feel about it after 32 years?
Michael
Doret: When I did it, it wasnt one of my favorites. Previously I had done a cover
for IDEA magazine a Japanese art magazine- that contained an article
about my work. I liked what I had done for them so much that I tried to emulate the look
for the KISS cover. However I didnt think it was that good
just a good piece,
but definitely not one of my best! I do enjoy all the attention it gets, even after all
these years. I have had many young designers that came to me and said that this cover made
them follow a career in graphic design. That makes me feel good.
You can find the whole interview on:

PAUL STANLEY SETS RECORD
STRAIGHT
(from Kissonline)
Amid the numerous reports stemming from an interview done in Norway, Paul Stanley has
decided to set the record straight regarding a KISS clone reality TV show.
Statement from Paul:
A KISS clone reality show? First of all, contrary to what was said by anyone, there is no
signed deal. Secondly, if we were to do a "KISS II", and I don't rule that out,
it would be in addition to, and never in place of KISS. If we were to do it, I know it
would be done in a ground breaking way and would be tremendously entertaining. KISS has
always defined itself by the rules we break, so what's the big surprise? We are in the
middle of our biggest and most successful tour of Europe ever, playing to over a half
million people, and neither KISS or I have any plans to stop afterwards!

ACE AT SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL

I have just returned from Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg (southern Sweden) where Ace
Frehley did an amazing show last Friday!
During the next couple of days I will post some really cool exclusive photos that I took
backstage. Be prepared for close-ups of Ace's guitars etc.
Ace played the following songs during the show:
RIP IT OUT
HARD TIMES
PARASITE
SNOW BLIND (incl I Want You)
ROCK SOLDIERS
BREAK OUT
INTO THE VOID
STRANGE WAYS
MEDLEY
SHOUT IT OUT LOUD
NEW YORK GROOVE
2000 MAN
SHOCK ME
ROCKET RIDE
DEUCE
LOVE GUN
COLD GIN
When Ace introduced Breakout he dedicated the song to Eric Carr. To me the highlights of
the show were Rocket Ride and New York Groove. Absolutely amazing!
I took this photo from the side of the stage during the show.
Come back to www.kissonfire.blogspot.com

ACE LIVE IN OSLO
(from Alex Fedotov)
Ace Fuckin' Crazy Show!!!!
I was in second row!!! It's amazing!
No support act, Ace start at 21:38 with his great opener Rip It Out!!! I think finish was
around 23:00. Set-list like all previous show. Sadly, but Ace not play new songs from long
await solo album.
Funny look at Ace song, which he play and compare with the same songs which play KISS
during this tour. KISS play in this city one week ago!
One of the really shock moment on the show: during smokin' guitar solo Ace's guitar was
really burning in fire! Crew member jump on stage with the fire extinguisher. After this
incident Ace end his solo on different guitar.
After the show I have one really used Ace's guitar pick!
Awesome show!!!! Wow!!!
I think set-list was next: Rip It Out / Hard Times / Parasite / Snowblind-I Want
You (Tag) / Rock Soldiers / Breakout / Into The Void / Strange Ways / Shout It Out Loud /
New York groove / 2,000 Man / Shock Me / Rocket Ride / Love Gun / Cold Gin / Black Diamond
Outro
Some mershandise was on sell - tour T-Shirts (250 NKR), old Trouble Walkin' promo poster
(200 NKR) and new Rocked Ride tour poster "Bike Week" (200 NKR), before show was
also for sale some Ace Frehley signature copy the same Rocked Ride tour poster "Bike
Week" for 460 NKR (?)
P.S. In the song New York Groove Ace sing - I'm back in Oslo groove!!!

"FRIDAY NIGHT ROCKS"
GIVES SNEAK PREVIEW OF VINNIE VINCENT TRIBUTE
Steve Brown's new recording of the underground Kiss track
"A Million To One," a song co-written by Paul Stanley and Vinnie Vincent,
premiered during the May 30th episode of nationally syndicated radio program Friday Night
Rocks. In the studio with DJ Eddie Trunk were Steve and his Trixter bandmate Mark
"Gus" Scott, who were there to promote the upcoming Trixter reunion. Also
discussed was Steve's new cover of "A Million To One," which will receive its
official release on the upcoming tribute album "KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie
Vincent."
"It's just an amazing concept and that's why I signed on to the project,"
remarked Brown during the broadcast. "I mean, who would think to do a Vinnie Vincent
tribute album? I just thought that was so funny! But Vinnie was a great guitar player and
a great songwriter."
"You can laugh all you want about the fact that there's a Vinnie Vincent tribute
album," offered Trunk, "but he was a huge part of the reason why Kiss had a
career in the '80s. He wrote "Lick It Up" and all that great stuff. No matter
what state the band is in now, Vinnie was a huge contributor to their success."
Trunk further added, "You've got to hear Steve's version of "A Million To
One" because he did such a great job on it. He covered one of my favorite songs from
a non-original Kiss lineup and he did such a different, cool version of it that I was just
blown away. I only play one ballad per show, so I'm going to play it tonight." Ed
later ended the program by selecting the song for his closing ballad.
Steve's interpretation of "A Million To One" is an elaborate acoustic rendition
of the song, putting a fresh new spin on the 25-year-old classic. A 30-second sample of
the song is available at the SplitScreen Entertainment website. Steve Brown currently
fronts the modern rock act Stereo Fallout and is expected to reunite with his Trixter
bandmates for select live dates in 2008, including the massive Rocklahoma festival in
July.
Though Vinnie Vincent himself has not released any new material in over a decade,
"KISS MY ANKH" will pay tribute to the undeniable musical legacy of the former
Kiss guitarist. Vinnie's compositions are widely regarded as a highlight of the Kiss
catalog and remain a staple of the live Kiss set list. Included on the tribute will be
selections from the three Kiss albums to which Vinnie contributed, as well as the two
albums he released with the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Additional artists and track listings
will be announced as they are confirmed. Further details can be found at the SplitScreen
Entertainment website.
"KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent" is scheduled for a Summer 2008
release.
