KISS TO TOUR WITH DEF LEPPARD?
(from Blabbermouth.net)
According to KissKollector.com, KISS manager Doc McGhee has
confirmed that KISS are in talks with DEF LEPPARD about possibly touring
together next year. As reported here yesterday, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene
Simmons has told the Associated Press that KISS will take a break from
touring following their final dates with AEROSMITH later this month and will return
to the road in April. A September 2004 European outing is also possible, according to McGhee. So
whatever happened to KISS' much-hyped retirement from touring?
"That had to do with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss," says Gene
of the bandmates who, along with Paul Stanley and himself, comprised the original KISS
lineup.
"Peter is now healthy. Ace has had a back-and-forth battle with
substances, and he told me if he didn't get off the road, he was going to kill
himself," says Gene.
In other news, Simmons' much-hyped magazine, Gene Simmons Tongue, has
apparently gone "on hiatus" following the publication of its fifth issue.
According to a posting from publisher Allen Tuller on the magazine's official web
site, "Gene is on tour with AEROSMITH and the tour has been extended
indefinitely. With this in mind, we felt it was only fair to go on hiatus until Gene
is involved in the publication of the magazine on a day-today basis and the tour schedule
simply does not allow sufficient time right now to devote to publishing the next issue of GST."
There is no word right now as to when or if the magazine will resume
publication.
In related news, former KISS drummer Eric Singer (ALICE COOPER, BLACK
SABBATH) played a few songs with QUEEN in South Africa for 46664 - The
Concert, hosted by Nelson Mandela, at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town. Other
acts on the bill included EURYTHMICS, BOB GELDOF, BEYONCE, PAUL
OAKENFIELD, THE CORRS and PETER GABRIEL. People were treated to over
five hours of performances by international artists, plus a speech from Nelson Mandela.
The concert, inspired by former president Mandela, aimed to raise awareness of the
global HIV/AIDS pandemic, as well as funds for South Africa.

DIDI
ZILL BOOK
A very special book has just been released from longtime BRAVO
photographer Didi Zill. An amazing book containing 352 pages (about as thick as
KISSTORY!), incl. about 500 pictures (Backstage, putting on Make-up before the show,
Live-Shots and Snapshots), filled with comments from Didi Zills meetings with the band in
1976 at Circus Krone, on Tour in 1979 and 1980, in the Studio in New York in 1981 and
1983, in a Studio in Munich 1982 and in the USA in 1990. A similar book like the legendary
Barry Levine book "The Kiss Years", but thicker, in full colour, printed on high
quality paper, hardcover in big format 24 X 30 cm. Written in English and German. More infos here.
