INTERVIEW WITH PAUL
Here on Metal Rules you can read an interview with Paul. Here are some
excerpts:
The album is now coming in October although its been ready for a long time.
Originally it was supposed to come out earlier, like in May. Whats the reason for
that delay?
PAUL STANLEY: The reason it didnt come out I mean it has been done for a while we wanted to have a different type of set up in terms of a distribution. We wanted to go with a label this time. So the legalities of working out a contract take a long time. So, you know, by going back to Universal with a company that has our whole catalogue so for a lot of reasons it made a lot of sense. Plus they were very Come home, very committed to the album. So had we wanted to do it a different way, we would had it out in May. But this made more sense and will make more sense. You know doing the Wal-Mart deal was great in one way but in another way if you didnt have a Wal-Mart near you or if you didnt have iTunes if you couldnt get it from iTunes so it was very limited how you could get the album. So, we tried that once and now we said lets do it this route. But Universal they very much wanted us back. And they have all these other albums so its a good agreement.
I just found out that youre going to use a band photo on the album cover. I heard that you originally had an artist painting the cover, was it Ken Kelly? Whatever happened to that project?
PAUL STANLEY: No. I didnt want the cover that looks like a cover from 30 years ago. This isnt 30 years ago. I didnt want somebody to thing that we are re-creating the past. And to make a cover like that is to make that kind of a statement. You know, we are not super heroes, were not fantasy, we are flesh and blood. We wear war paint, we wear makeup. That is part of our identity but to have us with swords or something crazy on the cover its not us now, its not (us) today.
What is the state of KISSOLOGY 4.... Is it coming out this year?
PAUL STANLEY: Yeah, yeah.
You did release the book with ten different covers with selected countries flags on it. How did you actual decide which flags to use and which were left off?
PAUL STANLEY: Actually I think that the company that we work with suggested these. So it wasnt anything from us. These are the ones that they suggested.
Would you tell something about the new stage?
PAUL STANLEY: Its pretty cool. Its just a pretty cool stage and doesnt look like the one we have had for a quite some time. And you know, lots of new technology, but you know its KISS, its our point of view, its how we do things.
Will you use that new one on The Tour already?
PAUL STANLEY: In some form yeah.
But there be further modifications when the actual Monster tour starts?
PAUL STANLEY: Yeah.
Have you ever been considered to write a book about your life?
PAUL STANLEY: Yes, there will be an autobiography out next
year.

KISS: LADY GAGA IS THE ONLY TRUE NEW STAR
(from gulfnews.com)
As they release their KISS Monster Book, they say todays rock bands look like
garbage collectors.
Musicians in todays rock bands look like garbage collectors and
the only true new star is Lady Gaga, members of the legendary heavy metal group KISS said.
There are a lot of bands that have something. Whats missing is stardom. The
ability to get up on stage and rule, bigger than life, said KISS bassist and
singer-songwriter Gene Simmons.
In a conversation during a promotional appearance on Tuesday for the KISS Monster Book,
the band explained their decision to record their next disc, Monster, with analogue
equipment.

INTERVIEW WITH C.K. LENDT
(from Decibel Geek)
Prior to working for KISS in the mid 1970s, were you a fan of them? Why or
why not?
I had heard of the band. I was in college and graduate school in the early to mid 1970s
and I don't recall that KISS was popular among the campus crowd. At the time, my musical
tastes leaned more toward artists like Johnny Winter, Lee Michaels, Leon Russell, The
Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton.
Throughout Eric Carr's and Bruce Kulick's tenures in KISS, were their salaries
roughly $2000/week ($100,000 annually) as has been rumored?
More or less. I think that Eric's was at one point higher but he had to take a pay cut
because of KISS's financial woes.

historic career. The 12-track, straight-ahead rock n roll album features collaborations
among all four members including co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and longtime
members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer in an album that shows the band at
the top of its game. And that s saying something, considering their illustrious, 40-plus

million sales in the U.S., and a total exceeding 100 million worldwide.

KISS FAQ BOOK RELEASED
Originally scheduled for a September 1, 2012 release, the book
"Kiss FAQ" by Dale Sherman has already been released now.
Amazon book description:
(FAQ). Since 1973, KISS has recorded over 20 studio albums; been
recognized as an innovator in rock presentations; witnessed a firestorm of rumors and
controversies; remained a thorn in critics' sides; and continues to surprise its massive
fan-following, the KISS Army, with various career twists and turns. Moreover, many
television shows, movies, toys and even comics have kept KISS a bigger-than-life name in
entertainment for decades. Yet with all that has been written over the years, there are
subjects that fans have never put to rest when it comes to the "hottest band in the
land": What were the most significant concerts? Why did Phantom of the Park turn out
that way? What were the best and worst album covers? How did the comics come about? And
what the heck is a deuce? These subjects and more appear in KISS FAQ showcasing the good,
bad, and the weird that has made KISS the legendary ultimate rock-and-roll party band,
still going strong after 40 years. Accompanying this entertaining work of solid rock
scholarship are dozens of rare images from posters to live shots and beyond. Also included
is a foreword by Bill Starkey, the creator of the original KISS Army.

ERIC CARR HANDWRITTEN LETTER DATED SEPTEMBER 8,
1984 ON EBAY
A rare Eric Carr hand written letter to David Snowden is up for
auction on ebay.
This original letter was the first of many letters that Eric Carr handwrote to Snowden.
The letter is dated September 8, 1984 and postmarked September 11, 1984 (New York City).
Eric hand addressed the letter to Snowden c/o The KISS Revolution and included a picture
taken by his roadie on the band's "Lick It Up" US tour. Eric wrote the letter on
Howard Marks Advertising letterhead and signed his name "Eric Carr KISS" which
is rare to find.
Background history on the letter and why Eric wrote to Snowden:
When the US official KISS Army disbanded in 1980, David Snowden tried to fill that void
with the creation of "THE KISS REVOLUTION" newsletter.
By 1984, Snowden met Keith Leroux (current webmaster for KISSonline.com) and together they
joined forces, taking Snowden's "KISS Revolution" newsletter and forming
"THE KISS FORCE" fan club.
The KISS Force grew into the largest fan run KISS fan club in the USA. During that time,
many of the band's current and former members (Eric Carr, Bruce Kulick, Ace Frehley, Peter
Criss, Mark St. John, Vinnie Vincent) did interviews with Snowden and sent him letters to
publish in the fan club's newsletter.
David Snowden went on to run official fan clubs for Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Ace Frehley
and Peter Criss in addition to several 80s "hair bands" such as Britny Fox,
White Lion, LA Guns, Vixen, Nelson, Trixter as well as music icon, Joan Jett. Snowden also
sold official KISS merchandise during KISS's reunion tours and designed several pieces of
merchandise. More information about Snowden can be found at:

(from insitegainesville.com)
"The hottest band in the land: Kiss!"
That is how Kiss is always introduced, and the show at the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre in
Tampa drove the point home, although opener Motley Crue gave them a run in the heat
department.

KISS BEATS THE TEXAS HEAT AT DALLAS SHOW
(from examiner.com)
You would think that a band of rock veterans with nothing to prove would give
themselves a break and coast through their live show in 100+ degree weather. Any other
band might, but not KISS. Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Tommy Thayer descended on a
platform from the rafters of the Gexa Energy Pavilion blazing on their guitars and never
let up for almost two hours. Drummer Eric Singer feverishly pounded away behind them as
they opened the show with audience favorite "Detroit Rock City."

DELIVERS A SPECTACLE AT OAK MOUNTAIN AMPITHEATRE
(from blog.al.com)
If Kiss has perfected anything in nearly 40 years, it's the application of a makeup that
refuses to smudge. Even on a Pelham, Alabama night where the humidity matched its monthly
high of 93 percent on the heels of a torrential downpour that flooded most of the Oak
Mountain Amphitheatre parking lot.
